Remember when a food challenge consisted of simply out-eating your competition? No longer is it enough to eat a large quantity of food, but rather today’s challenges are truly packed with extra heat. That’s because hot wing challenges are not only becoming more and more popular, but they’re also turning up the heat much more than just a notch or two.
There are all kinds of traditional wing restaurants and chains that feature their own challenges. Topped off with a large dose of extra hot, hot sauce, the challenges go way beyond the norm for many competitors. Oftentimes the wings are coated in hot sauce, but it’s a tolerable kind of burn. Then, there are both average people and celebrities willing to put themselves up to the challenge, and sometimes challenging others, takings videos and online posting their own spicy hot food challenge. As more and more people take part in the challenges, however, they seem to only be getting hotter. Take, for example, the popular webcast “Hot Ones”. Already dozens and dozens of celebs have agreed to go on the show for a sit-down interview, all while eating some spicy hot, hot wings. This particular challenge literally puts people in the hot seat, as the samples continually get hotter and hotter.
While high on the entertainment scale, wing challenges are also continually reaching new heights on the Scoville scale. That’s likely because peppers are getting hotter and so are pepper products. If you think you have what it takes you don’t have to make a video or even enter a competition. You can easily put yourself up to the challenge of trying out any one or more of the many varieties of sizzling hot, hot sauce samples currently on the market. The question remains, though, are you up for the challenge?
