It’s that time of year again. As the weather forces the mercury down the thermometer (really, who uses those anymore, we know you just check your phone), it’s time to think about Halloween and everything that goes with it. We’re talking about costumes, trick-or-treating, scary movies, and hotter than hell hot sauces.
How NOT to Spice up Your Halloween
There are a few things we just don’t recommend doing this Halloween. At the top of our list has to be the new Burger King Halloween Whopper. Okay, we know you probably want to try this, but the truth is that people have been overwhelming social media with reports of green poop. While the fast food establishment claims it’s the A1 sauce in the bun that turns it black, we’re pretty confident there’s a wild amount of food coloring there too.
The jury is still out on whether or not this amount of food coloring is not good for you. At the moment, it doesn’t appear overly harmful. But, no one is comforted by green poop. In fact, it’s likely to make you fear for your health. Now, if you really want to try the Halloween Whopper, that’s totally your call. But you’ve been warned.
Another gimmick we’d avoid if we were you is dressing up as packets of Taco Bell hot sauces. It was cute the first time it was done. Absolutely. But then everyone started doing it. And now it’s about as mundane as possible. You could opt for dressing as a bottle of sriracha (but this is the last year you can do it, as there will be a lot of that going around this year). And, if you have a baby, you can probably still get away with dressing him or her as a chili pepper (the hot kind, not the Anthony Kiedis variety – though that would be infinitely funnier). Celebrities have been doing this for the past couple of years, but it’s not been overdone… yet.
And, it should go without saying that you shouldn’t hand out chili peppers or hot sauces to trick-or-treaters – even the unruly teenagers that didn’t put any effort into dressing for the occasion. Most kids just can’t handle the heat, and you don’t want to be that house. You really don’t want pain and suffering on your conscious either (even if you wish you could keep those teenagers off your porch).
The Best Halloween Idea Ever
Halloween is one of those fun holidays without gift exchanges. While it’s not a feast either (we have to wait another month for that), it’s the perfect time to host a hot sauce party. The theme is built in already. Just think of the spooky names on the front of your favorite hot sauces: Pure Ghost and Reaper Sriracha should give you a clue, shouldn’t it?
And, lucky you, we’ve got the recipes that will make your gathering into a success. From hors d’oeuvres to fiery cocktails, Mad Dog has you covered this Halloween. Just check our recipe blog and our recipe page for the ideas that will transform this Halloween. (Just a note, our hot sauces may empty your bowels, but they won’t turn your poop green – and we think that’s a good thing.)
