The Global Appeal of Hot Pepper Challenges

It used to be that hot pepper challenges were the stuff of local fairs, expos and festivals. Contestants up for the challenge were often seeking out bragging rights until the next big competition came around. No longer, though, are hot pepper challenges confined to local towns, cities or even states. These days you don’t have to look far to find challenges that generate global appeal.

Shows such as the online web series “Hot Ones” have helped push some of that appeal mainstream. The show literally puts celebrities in the hot seat. The show’s host asks them more and more spicy questions as they, in turn, increase their intake of spicy chicken wings. Each spicy wing in the challenge proves even hotter than the last. You certainly don’t have to be a celebrity, though, to take on a hot challenge. That’s why Mad Dog 357 has its own YouTube videos of hot sauce fans that seem up for the challenge.

While some of the challenges include willing participants, other challenges are well-conceived, or even not so well conceived, pranks. In other words, not all of the challengers know what they’re in for. On Mad Dog 357 YouTube videos those challenges are topped with some of the hottest Mad Dog 357 products on the market. While you’ll find people substituting hot sauce for pancake syrup, adding hot sauce to unsuspecting take-out food, sandwiches or dessert, not all go as planned. Some of the pranks and challenges end with competitors running to help quench their thirst and stop the burn while other challenges end badly for those who think they’re in on the prank, only to find out they’re the ones who actually end up getting pranked themselves.
