Reaper Nachos Mad (Hot) Dogs

Filed in Recipes by on September 9, 2018

If you’re holding out for National Hot Dog Day on September 10th, you may as well make these hot dogs to celebrate.

But, there’s not a chance we’ll ever be able to wait for a special occasion now that we’ve tasted these.

You should expect to watch everyone sopping up the Reaper tomato salsa and guacamole bits with the tortilla chips that inevitably tumble off each Mad (Hot) Dog. It’s all so freaking delicious that you’ll probably come up with excuses to make this recipe for four all year long. And, while, they’re obviously better on the grill, you shouldn’t feel guilty about doing them under the broiler as it’s really the Reaper tomato salsa that makes this recipe everything you’ve ever wanted.

Ingredients

For the Reaper tomato salsa

1+ Mad Dog 357 Reaper Pepper Pods, diced

2 medium Tomatoes, roughly chopped

2 tablespoon Vegetable oil

Salt and pepper, to taste

1½ tablespoons Red wine vinegar

¼ each Red onion, diced

For the guacamole

1 ripe Avocado, roughly chopped

¼ each Red onion, diced

1 each Lime, juiced

1 tablespoon Vegetable oil

2 tablespoons Fresh cilantro, chopped

Salt and pepper, to taste

For the hot dogs

4 each Good-quality hot dogs

4 each Hot dog buns, split just enough to get the dogs and toppings in

Tortilla chips, coarsely crumbled

Optional: grated cheese, sour cream, olives, whatever you love on nachos

Preparation

Soak the diced Mad Dog 357 Reaper Pepper Pods in a small bowl with enough water to cover. Allow this to sit and soak for several minutes, then drain and place in a mixing bowl with the remaining salsa ingredients. Set the Reaper tomato salsa aside.

To make the guacamole, combine all the ingredients in another mixing bowl and mash together.

TIP: feel free to add a drop of your favorite Mad Dog hot sauce to the guacamole for an intense flavor. Set the bowl of guacamole aside.

Grill your hot dogs on under the broiler or on the grill until cooked and beginning to blister. Place hot dogs in the partially split buns and load with plenty of the Reaper tomato salsa, guacamole, crushed tortilla chips and anything else you want to make your Mad Dogs stellar.
